Squawky, Shiny Objects and Me
My family tree has creative roots! I grew up loving art, my father was a painter and my mother taught me to sew. All of this creating led me to my career as an art educator. Inspiration goes both ways in the classroom. Introducing students to new media was as exciting for me as it was for my students. It led me to working with glass! I began using the copper foil technique when I taught a crafts class to high school students. Fusing glass was a way to introduce younger students to glass in a safe way. My philosophy as an artist is woven into my teaching philosophy. Keep discovering, you never know what is going to spark the next creation.
Shiny Objects is named for my pet crow! My Dad rescued him while he was fishing at our camp in Northern Vermont. Squawky really did love shiny objects, he stole one of my marbles! Here we are feeding Squawky breakfast.
